From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Questers and Schemers groups.
