I will stamp all over 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be streamed live on Netflix.

British boxer Joshua declared he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the combatants confronted each other to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Ex twice unified title holder Anthony Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge disparity - at Miami's arena on December 19th.

Boxer's Mindset

"I will break his face and damage his physique. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I intend to seriously aim to cause him pain. That's my goal."

Respectful Exchange

In spite of these statements, a composed Joshua and internet personality Paul - usually recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and called him "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian turned down a match opportunity.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, in the meantime, criticized British opponent Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' states he will put on a victory for Paul.

"Jake Paul is better than Fury - he showed up," Joshua commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Opponent

Despite saying he intends to punish Paul, Joshua chose not to talk badly about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he stated.

Paul's Background

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought mixed martial artists or declining opponents since turning professional.

He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

Still, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of the sport's greatest financial successes, regularly earning massive financial rewards.

Prediction and Belief

The 28 year old forecast a stoppage in rounds four or five and claimed he would prevent the much-anticipated match between Joshua and Fury, which is allegedly under discussion for 2026.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Paul said.

Size Disparity

As Joshua and Paul met for the traditional confrontation, with their height and weight contrast on show, it drove home just how unlikely this complete situation is - and how remarkable it is that the match is truly proceeding.
